Campership Award – Guidelines

The purpose of the Campership Award Fund is to enable eligible Jewish students in *Greater El Paso to experience the known benefits of accredited North American, USA based, Jewish overnight summer camps in the lives of the campers. The funds will be provided as subsidies and are not need based and will be awarded equally to all applicants up to $1,000 per camper. There is no annual limit as to the annual distribution of funds.

In the event that additional need-based funds are required to attend, the applicant is encouraged to apply to their affiliated congregation as well as to the specific Jewish overnight camp that is being attended, and importantly to the Jewish Children’s' Regional Service (JCRS) based in New Orleans, Louisiana. (The mission of JCRS is to provide scholarships throughout the Southwest to allow all Jewish children the opportunity to attend Jewish Summer Camp. See www.jcrs.org for more information.)

Applications – which must be submitted to JFED El Paso first for approval prior to submission to the camp - will be accepted after November 1 and must be received by March 1 annually and will be available as funds exist. All disbursements will be made directly to the summer camp.  The Jewish Federation of Greater El Paso has additional non-need funding available through its One Happy Camper program for first time campers attending Jewish overnight camp. If you have questions please call 915-842-9554.

*Campers must be residents of Las Cruces or El Paso at the time of the summer program
